side note sort of related to that last post: y’know how one of the things gatekeepers like to say is how they’re just concerned that the fakers are going to take away the resources from the real people who need them?
and that excluding trans people or ace people or bisexuals from queer spaces is really just about keeping ~straight people~ out of the space?
yeah, if you’re serious about your movement being a place for people who are “questioning,” you’re gonna have to get okay with there being straight people there. because, yeah, sometimes, after a few years of “questioning,” the person comes out as gay. but sometimes, after interrogating their gender or sexuality or whatever, the person concludes that actually they are cishet. let me say it again: some questioning people are gonna turn out to be cishet
and you need to be okay with that
because if you’re only making a space “safe” for “questioning” individuals who eventually come to the answer you like, you’re not actually making a space safe for “questioning” individuals at all. you’re making a space that is deeply, deeply hostile to anyone earnestly questioning their sexuality or gender identity.
